Tungsten crucibles are also a typical product of the refractory metal tungsten, made from metal tungsten powder as the main raw material, and are a high temperature resistant vessel with tungsten content generally higher than 99.95%. The shape is generally cylindrical, with a diameter ranging from 10mm to 500mm, a height ranging from 10mm to 750mm, and a wall thickness ranging from 8mm to 20mm.
The physical and chemical properties of tungsten crucibles mainly include high specific gravity, high melting point, high boiling point, low vapor pressure, low evaporation rate, low thermal expansion coefficient, corrosion resistance, wear resistance, and good thermal conductivity. Depending on the manufacturing process, tungsten crucibles can be divided into forging, sintering, welding, stamping, and spinning.
The production process of pure tungsten crucible includes blending, isostatic pressing, shaping, sintering and finishing. The blending process uses four different types of tungsten powder with particle sizes ranging from 1.0 to 5.0um. The isostatic pressing pressure is about 200MPa, and the holding time is about 7 minutes. The sintering temperature is about 2300°C, and the sintering time is about 7 hours.
Tungsten crucibles are widely used in industries such as rare earth smelting, quartz glass, electronic spraying, crystal growth, etc. Their main purpose is to serve as high-temperature containers in industrial furnaces such as rare earth metal smelting furnaces, quartz glass melting furnaces, induction furnace heating elements, single crystal furnaces, sapphire single crystal growth furnaces, and high-temperature vacuum furnaces. The working temperature is generally above 2000°C. For sapphire crystal growth, tungsten crucibles should have characteristics such as no internal cracks, precise dimensions, and smooth inner and outer walls.
